Grace Church Family and Friends,
Merry Christmas to you all! What a Savior! Last Saturday morning I was on my way to the church to finish up Sunday’s message. I turned off of Portertown Road onto Herman Garris Road and a young man came swerving through the curve ahead of me. Two things passed through my mind: First, the kid’s in trouble. Secondly, I’m thinking he’s going to hit me! Yes, the kid was in trouble, but he didn’t hit me, and he was okay! Praise the Lord! Life is filled with the unexpected!!! The Christmas season is no different. Sometimes its good things and sometimes not so good! Jesus’ birth was much the same. Yet at every turn the Lord was there. Nothing checked God’s plans. We can all rejoice that regardless of what comes our way, the Lord is with us. Shortly after Jesus’ birth the power brokers of the day sought to kill Jesus. The Lord was there. Even in the late evenings with the shepherds the Lord was there. And yes, even in the humblest of birthing conditions God was there too. While praying with friends yesterday about their loved ones being in the hospital, the Lord said in a still small voice, “I’m right here, you can always trust Me.” So this Christmas, like others before, let’s remember the wondrous truth of Matthew 1:23 (KJV) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
As you know the Christmas season is tremendously busy! TONIGHT, we are NOT hosting a dinner. We ARE having ALL other meetings though. This includes Choir practice. Our Wednesday dinners will begin again on Wednesday, January 5. So, yes tonight I look forward to seeing you and your family. We will have CHRISTMAS EVE COMMUNION on Friday evening at 5:00PM. This is a great time for family worship. Please join us, and invite your family and friends. We will have our regular schedule of morning services on Sunday, December 26th with NO evening services.
Enjoy your Christmas time with family and friends, always remembering the reason for the season is “God with us.” We love you and yours. God bless you!
Luke 2:11 (KJV) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
No fear… GOD is with us!
