John 6 begins with multitudes following Jesus. The crowds were huge! These curious followers of Christ are soon treated to an outdoor feast from the hands of Jesus. Can you imagine what that was like? Thousands of people ate that day… it must have been a joyous occasion. Later in the same chapter these same folks are challenged with the truth about Jesus and who He was. Jesus challenged them to become committed followers. What happens next is quite telling! John 6:66 exposes their heart condition. It says, “From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.” The truth is they enjoyed the fish and bread but they were not willing to commit themselves to Jesus! Jesus asked the Twelve, “Will you also go away?” Peter’s response was classic! He said, John 6:68-69 “Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” Today Jesus is calling us all to be committed followers… not just curious onlookers. BE COMMITTED TO JESUS… CHRIST ABOVE ALL!
