Hello Grace Church Family and Friends,
Writing from his prison cell, Paul encouraged us to “Rejoice in the Lord, and again, I say rejoice!” What a powerful word for us today! If you’re like me, I run into people almost daily struggling with the ups and downs of life. Even today I’ve encountered friends who are struggling a bit! Yet in the face of life’s fragile offerings, Paul says “REJOICE!” Is he trying to make us feel like failures? Is he seeking to develop a positive mental attitude within us? Keep in mind that Paul is writing from a jail cell. But Paul knows that the Lord is in charge of his life. He knows that the Lord is right there with him! He knows that ultimately whatever happens is his life will bring glory to the Lord. It goes without saying that Paul suffered greatly in his life, but in spite of this, his expectations always proved to exceed his challenges and trials! With that said, let’s join the great apostle and rejoice in the goodness of God!!!
Prayers are needed for many of our brothers and sisters. JB and Elsie Nichols, Billy Peede, Ruby Dickerson, Cindy Day (lung infection), Amber (dad passed away), Hope is Alive Home, Dylan Clem (HIA leader), Lynn Garland job, our church services, AWANA beginning in late August, Missionary Carmen Moyer coming home in September, Pregnancy centers in our area, Tom Mesing, Zain Revels, Mike Kuntz (wife Deb and family), Beverly Myers cancer (very serious), Todd Simpson job, guidance for Faith Promise Missions Team working with our missionaries. I’m sure I’ve missed some. Prayers for Sunday’s teaching and preaching ministry are always desired and appreciated.
Sunday’s message comes from James 4:13-17. It’s entitled, “Godly Wisdom and the Plan of God.” As is typical with James, he’s very challenging. It’s soul food for spiritual maturity! Thank you for joining us. Thank you for giving generously to support our church and its ministries. The Lord is good! Here’s another blessing… our summer attendance has been good overall. Thank you for your faithful attendance.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
Cheryl and I appreciate you all! It’s always great seeing you at Grace Church! Invite a friend, and Lord willing we’ll see you tomorrow for Bible study at 9:45am and Worship at 11:00am.
