Jesus said, “Have you not read?” This may appear to be a strange question, but I don’t think so! Years ago I read a statement that went something like this, “He who does not read, has no advantage over he who cannot read!” The bottom line is this! As Christians we should be reading. I can’t imagine trying to live for JESUS without reading. The Holy Spirit uses Scripture to speak truth to our inward parts. It stands to reason then, that if we do not read, the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is limited. Reading the Word allows the Spirit to teach you the truth about God and what He wants you to do with your life. No reading… No leading! The reason we are not reading is simple. We just simply don’t do it! We take time to do lesser things, such as watch television or tinker on the web! Let me also add this thought. No reading, no pleading! What does this mean? I’m glad you asked! Reading Scripture and prayer go together. When I’m not reading my Bible I’m not praying! Just the facts… What about you? Reading… Leading… And pleading go together!
